Frequently Asked Questions
Holiday pre-orders are open and can be placed through our website. We recommend ordering early, as items may sell out before orders close on the 22nd. Tuesday or Wednesday, you can pick up your desserts anytime during open hours regardless of time scheduled.
10” cakes, slices, and other items not shown on the online menu will not be available the week of Thanksgiving. If you are ordering for November 1st- 23rd and need a 10″ cake or other item not listed, please call the shop for assistance.
What is the best day to pick up?
It is typically less busy on Tuesday the 25th than Wednesday the 26th. If you are ordering a Carrot Cake, Tiramisu, Lemon Mousse Cake, Classic Vanilla Cake, Torta Di Cioccolata, Chocolate Layer Cake, or an Old-Fashioned Coconut Cake, we suggest picking up on Tuesday.
If you are ordering a Tart, Chocolate Mousse or Cheesecake, we recommend picking up Wednesday the 26th. Those desserts have a 1–2-day shelf life and if serving on Thanksgiving should not be picked up on Tuesday if you are serving them on Thanksgiving.
Spots fill quickly, so reserve your holiday treats early.

This is the most popular dessert at Pastiche! Whole tarts can sell out a week in advance! We recommend preordering. Slices are first come first served and are out by 10am. The Fresh Fruit Tarts are not available in mid-October through December 29th, but return for New Years Eve.
Both! Whole cakes can be pre-ordered up to two weeks in advance. But you’re always welcome to stop by the bakery and see what’s available for takeout that day.
We don’t offer wedding cakes or custom cakes, but inscriptions to customize your cake are always free! If you would like an inscription on your cake, please notify us at the time of placing your pre-order (you can add it online in the “special instructions” field).
Desserts are only available for pickup. We can recommend a delivery service. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you at the bakery!
Stop by the bakery at 92 Spruce Street! The line for pre-orders and take-out is the same, and we’ll be glad to assist.
Running a little late for your pick up? No need to call! We’re open a little later than the online ordering hours listed on Toast. See our hours for up-to-date info.
If you need to cancel your order, please call the shop. No-show orders will be charged unless they’re canceled in advance.
We’re a take-out only bakery so that we can devote all of our energy to creating fresh desserts on-site every day! We offer whole desserts, slices, espresso drinks, and seasonal beverages to go.
We’re located at 92 Spruce Street in Providence. There is “Pay and Display” metered multi-space parking on Spruce Street Monday through Saturday, 8 am to 9 pm. Tickets are purchased at any pay station and must be displayed on the front dashboard of the vehicle.
There are no preservatives or stabilizers in our desserts, so depending on the weather, your cakes may need just a bit of TLC to stay fresh until you get to your destination.
When the outside temperature heats up, make sure to keep your cakes cold! If you’ll be driving a long distance, keep your cake level, in a cooler or insulated bag, and use ice packs. (Mousse cakes and whip-cream-topped cakes are the most delicate.)
We sell insulated bags that keep the product cold for approximately 1-2 hours, longer if used with ice packs.
In the early years of the Providence Renaissance, well before the food craze took hold, former owners Eileen Collins & Brandt Heckert started a fledgling business providing up-and-coming restaurants with their homemade desserts. Their approach was simple: offer the best quality and deliver it consistently. The response was overwhelmingly positive, so in 1983 they opened a small shop and café on historic Federal Hill—and we’re still here today!
Four decades later, our dedicated staff alongside owner Amy Foster, who has been with Pastiche for over 30 years, continue to offer classic recipes made with the best natural ingredients. We love serving our longtime customers as well as first time visitors from around the world. Cheers to the next 40 years!
